Basic Pistol
About This Course
Our Basic Pistol class is a 4-hour class led by NRA/USCCA instructors and are tailored for new gun owners or beginners with little to no experience. While the standard comprehensive NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is an 8-hour format (blended or instructor-led), our focused 4-hour format typically compresses essential orientation or specific modules like the NRA First Steps Pistol course.
Course Length: Approximately 4 hours (10am - 2pm). Course is split between classroom orientation and practical application/live-fire range time).
Primary Goal: Teach the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.
Firearm Types Covered: Both revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
We will practice these fundamentals with laser training guns before going to the live fire portion.
Be prepared to shoot 25-75 rds of ammunition. We feel that at this point a smaller round count allows you to focus on developing the fundamentals, gaining confidence and understanding.
Loaner pistols are available to those students who have not purchased a firearm yet.

NRA/USCCA Rules for Safe Gun Handling: Safe storage, cleaning, and general rules.
Pistol Knowledge & Operation: Understanding parts of both revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.
